Today, I’m on The Ton Blog — check out my post there for details on how I created this card. This is going to be a text-heavy post! Thanks to all my friends who subscribed to my blog and liked my Facebook page. I reached my blogiversary this month since I started posting cards last August. I really wanted to do big things this month, but I’ll be real with you. I’m tired. I do a lot, and then I’m exhausted so I allow myself breaks. My first real passion was writing so sometimes I’ll just write about things as I talk about my crafting adventures. It’s impossible to satisfy all readers, but I know that there are a few who enjoy reading a post with some real stories.
Somehow, I had acquired over 200 subscribers to my old blog and now have over 60 likes on my A Rare Ruby Crafts Facebook page (invite your friends!) and over 2,500 followers on Instagram. What started out as a hobby has transformed me in little ways. With the help of two good friends, I was able to get my own domain and put together this website. When I first stumbled onto papercrafting accidentally, I wanted to create cards so I could let my friends know I was thinking of them. Now that most of them know that without me having to send a card (lol), I realize I don’t really have birthday, baby, or wedding cards. My new goal is to work on those because in my culture, those are the three events that are celebrated often. On that note, do check out my Etsy shop! I had my first sale yesterday and was so excited to pack it for my friend who lives in another state. If there are any particular requests, let me know so I can work on them before I’m employed.
Rarely do I show excitement in person, but ironically, I tend to celebrate a lot of things. So many milestones. I don’t attach meaning to materialistic things or money and giving gifts makes me feel better (receiving is pretty cool, too!). I am blessed with a lot so it doesn’t make sense for me to hold onto things when I can share them. When I find the energy, I take baby steps. I’ve been trying to figure out what kind of giveaways to have soon and what I want to add to my destash page. I collected a lot of items over my first year of crafting, but I don’t want to keep everything if I’m not going to use them.
I have soooooo many ideas, but I can’t do anything. I wish I could explain mental paralysis. I wonder what life without depression would be like. Regardless, I have a lot of hope in my life. I always have something to look forward to, even if there are days when I don’t want to get out of my bed. It would be nice if people would keep unsolicited advice to themselves. I know they mean well, but I am the type of person who doesn’t want advice unless I specifically ask for it. I just like straight-up compassion and understanding. But the world will continue being the world. 🙂
If you’ve been following The Ton on social media, you’ll have noticed the new couture mixes. There’s something about colors that fascinates me. In fact, I decided to look up color inspirations yesterday on Google (my favorite thing to do is just Google random things). I think I sat there for about an hour looking at color combinations because EVERYTHING looked so pretty. No wonder I can never focus on a task long enough (except apparently that one). Although I’m not technically diagnosed with any attention disorder, I do have difficulty concentrating. But I always meet my deadlines, which is what matters most, right!? Anyway, I played around with some of the gilding I had in my collection. Here are a few combinations I came up with…what do you think?
Of course, I started with something really colorful. 🙂
This is the one I used for today’s card.
Here’s a look at the card I created with the second mix. I liked the colors so I used the same ones on the card using the ink smooshing technique.
Interested in the products I used? To make them easy for you to find, I have listed them below. (Affiliate and product disclosure can be found here). Your purchases help me to run my blog. Thank you!
