Welcome back to another Guesting with Ruby Naz post!
My next guest needs no introduction, really! 🙂 Melania Deasy is one of the best crafters in our community, but the thing I adore about her most is how humble and sweet she is.
Don’t forgive to visit my earlier guests: Tiffany A., Jessica Frost-Ballas, Nina-Marie Trapani, and Stephanie Gold!
Tell us a little about yourself and your craft journey.
Hi all! I’m Melania Deasy. I live in Surabaya, the second biggest city in Indonesia. I am now full-time house wife with my 7-year-old son. I started crafting in 2011. First, I saw all the pretty cards on the Internet and I was interested in making them. And as you know, cardmaking is very addictive! I still love making them now.
What are you most grateful for in regards to crafting?
I love doing it! I can share my work and have many amazing friends all around the world.
What inspires you to create?
I think the product itself inspires me to create. When I see a product for the first time, I start thinking how can I use this product to make it more beautiful, unique and different. Then I start making sketches and the process will follow. For the color choice, I’m inspired by the ink pad colors that I have and sometimes I see color combinations on Pinterest.
How do you personally define success?
Success to me is not only that I’m happy with my work, but the most important thing is I can also make people whom I love happy, too. 🙂
What do you hope to improve on in the following year?
I want to learn and try to do something different with my cards, maybe more watercolor technique, using more patterned paper or anything that challenges me.
What is the most wonderful part of being you?
Being grateful, having dreams, having passion, and being hard-working.
What would you like to simplify in your life?
The perfectionist inside of me and my attention to details is sometimes too much. I want to simplify that 🙂
What advice do you have for new crafters?
I think a good card starts with an idea. No matter what technique or product you use, an idea is the most essential. Try to be unique and be you. Hard work will pay a good price so don’t give up and enjoy the ride 🙂
I’m using Lawn Fawn Baaah Humbug, Hat from Dad + Me and sentiment from Flamingo Together stamp set. I stamp the images and coloring it using Copic. To die cut the heart frame, I’m using Scalloped & Pierced Hearts dies from Avery Elle. The sentiment is from silver embossing powder and I die cut the banner from MFT Dienamics Blueprints 27. Patterned paper is from MFT Gingham Galore Paper Pack.
Thank you so much Ruby for inviting me…I have so much fun playing!!
