Welcome back to Guesting with Ruby Naz!
Don’t forgive to visit my earlier guests. You can also find all of the posts under Guesting (in the bar menu at the top of my site):
Hi there! My name is Ellen and I am so honored to be a guest for our talented Ruby!! I hope you’ll enjoy my post I made for her! Below you can find the first part; my answers to the guest-questions:
Tell us a little about yourself and your craft journey.
After doing art school and going to university I really missed doing something artsy. That’s how I looked up for making interactive books to give to friends and other paper art. Suddenly I discovered scrapbooking online. The first few years I was a big scrapbooker, but that was until my boyfriend gave me these awesome Copic markers!! I became a card-nerd immediately.
What are you most grateful for in regards to crafting?
I love how kind people are in this creative community. It really amazes me every time to receive so many sweet comments and get to know the most awesome people. For example one of my best friends is Nina-Marie. I met her on a design team and I never seen her in real life, but our friendship goes far on skype lol. I really wish to see her, take pictures and do fun things together, like I do with other friends… Maybe in future?!
What inspires you to create?
A lot of things… Sometimes it’s a poster, a color combination, someone’s card/painting/idea…. and sometimes it comes to me by just keep trying to figure out what works best. I will never know how my brain does these things :).
How do you personally define success?
Being happy with who you are and what you do in free time but also in our job, study whatever you do.
What do you hope to improve on in the following year?
Drawing! I was an art student and loved painting and drawing things… this is something I always like to do more, but I don’t do anymore. I always keep saying I need to do it more. It’s like a new year’s resolution that never works; yes I need spanking for that!
What is the most wonderful part of being you?
That’s a hard one! I think it’s my empathy, being sweet, being goofy and having creativity.
What would you like to simplify in your life?
Being sweet has also very negative side, namely being insecure always and all the time. Now I’m at the point in my life where I finally have my master diploma, have my first job, I’m learning drive, thinking about buying a house, build a family… There are so many big changes and a lot more questions about it. I wish it wasn’t so hard to find out what I love and want in my life and dare to go for these things. Luckily crafting is my escape to all the pressure I feel.
What advice do you have for new crafters?
Keep going and never give up. We all went to the process of growing in techniques and making cards. Don’t feel ashamed by sharing a project that isn’t 100% what you like. You still can inspire people with it and put a smile on someone’s face all by doing something you love; creating something handmade!
The second part of the blog post is of course sharing a card! I had to show you something I really love doing and that’s making interactive cards and using critters, distress ink and Copic markers. Are you ready?
This card is a flip card with a funny illustrations inside. For the card I used several stamps set from different companies (Lawn Fawn, Newtons Nook and My Favorite Things).
When you open the first tab, the other illustration appear inside. I think it’s so silly to compare your friend with a little goldfish that makes the cat super happy hihihi.
A big thanks to Ellen for being a guest today and sharing so much of herself! Go follow her for lots of beautiful inspiration!! 🙂
