Layton’s Legacy Card Drive & Fundraiser Blog Hop (+ Giveaway)

Hello, my dear crafty friends! I am honored to be a part of the Layton’s Legacy Card Drive & Fundraiser Blog Hop today, hosted by my friend Lea Lawson.

This Card Drive & Fundraiser is in honor of her son, Layton Caleb! There is a ton of amazing inspiration! We also have a fundraising effort, where every $5 donated gets you an entry into the prize drawing. There are over $2000 in prizes, sponsored by some of the most amazing stamping & papercrafting companies in the industry! {You can also see all the prizes HERE.}

***To stay updated on the fundraising progress, please visit Lea’s blog. Want to help? You can donate to Layton’s Legacy YouCaring Fundraiser (every $5 donated gets you an entry into the prize drawing). Winners will be announced on Lea’s blog on May 19th. If you are not able to donate, please share about this card drive & fundraiser anywhere that you can. We appreciate every little effort. You can also shop – Pinkfresh Studios will be donating 10% of today’s sales and will be offering a 15% discount (see Pinkfresh Studios for more details) and CAS-ual Fridays Stamps is also donating 15% of their sales through May 19th. Lea is also donating her affiliate link earnings through May 19th. Another way you can help is by creating a card using the theme/mood board below and donating it to Lea for the NICU. You can link up the card here and e-mail Lea at for the mailing address. Thank you for all you do!

This is the woodland theme/mood board for today’s card drive.

I have an adorable card for you today, inspired by the woodland theme. I used two sets from Hello Bluebird, a fairly new stamp company: Woodland Littles and Jungle Littles. I decided to combine all the woodland and jungle critters together so there was a lot of masking and stamping involved. Most of my cards are dimensional, but I wanted to try a relatively flat card today.

First, I tested out the arrangement on scrap paper and then used post-it paper to stamp and mask all the images. I colored them with Copic markers. I added details with a black pen and white gel pen. For the sky, I masked off the images and blended Distress Oxide in China with a blending tool and then finished off the outlines of the images with gray and blue Copic markers. I did splatter some water onto the blended area for a cool effect.

I stamped the sentiment from Woodland Littles onto black cardstock and heat-embossed with white embossing powder. I mounted it over the sky with foam tape (the only dimensional part of my card). I glued the panel to my white cardbase. This card will be going off to Lea, and she’ll be donating them to the NICU social worker to decorate the NICU. What a sweet sentiment though. My heart goes out to the families who have a baby in NICU, especially being that I am a new mom to a healthy baby and can only imagine what the families endure.
