Hello, friends! Thank you for stopping by today. I am soooo excited to be joining as a guest for the Pinkfresh Studio’s Liquid Watercolor New Product Blog Hop!! You should have arrived from Missy’s Blog. If you get lost, you can always start at the Pinkfresh Studio Blog.
I have several projects for you today! Watercolors are one of my FAVORITE mediums to work with so I had a lot of fun with them. The new product release includes 12 colors – each can be purchased individually for $6.00 each or as a full set for 10% off using the code WATERCOLOR10 (shipping is separate). They will begin shipping between June 20 and June 25. They are also available for reserve at Simon Says Stamp.
So right away, I created a swatch and used a spare palette for the watercolors. They are liquid so they will spill and eventually they do dry out. I just wanted to keep a separate palette and swatch for whenever I want to use these watercolors on my projects. I bought a cheap case from Amazon.
My first card used floral images from Fleur 1, Love with Botanical dies, and some iridescent jewels. I kept the colors dark on purpose to show how vibrant they are. Of course, they look great muted as well (just add more water and less pigment). To create the darker shades, I simply mixed Sunshine + Sapphire and Key Lime + Sapphire. You can get many other shades from mixing colors, too.
For my second card, I wanted to create a starry background. I used some of the blues and black colors to create this random piece on Yupo Translucent paper. The stars are from Escape the Ordinary and the sentiment is from Constellation. Keep in mind that Yupo paper is synthetic paper so it doesn’t absorb liquid like watercolor or other cardstock. It’ll sit on top until it dries out, depending on how much liquid you’ve used. You can get all kinds of cool effects. Adding white paint splatters gives it the galaxy look.
I actually had one more background done on Yupo paper but didn’t use it for a card yet. I love how the “waves” look so calming.
I hope you were inspired by these projects and will try out the watercolors. 🙂 Next on the hop is the super talented Sandy Allnock!
I am also giving away a $25 gift card here and will select a random winner from comments left on my blog post. You have until Saturday, June 9th at 11:59pm CST to leave a comment. Winners will be posted on Pinkfresh Studio’s Giveaway page by Sunday, June 10th. Winners must claim their prize within 2 weeks so be sure to check back on June 10th!
