Altenew | July 2018 Stencil Release Blog Hop (+ Giveaway)

Hello, friends! Today is Altenew’s July 2018 Stencil Release Blog Hop! Hop along for fabulous inspiration and fun! You should have arrived from the amazingly talented Emily Midgett’s blog. If you lose your way, you can start at the Altenew Card Blog or the Altenew Scrapbook Blog.

Check out the entire new release! I’d love to know what you’ve got your eyes on!

I have a few cards to share with you, focusing on three stencils.

One of my favorites from the release is the City Scene Stencil. I created two different looks – one rainbow and one monochromatic with ink blending.

For Calligraphy Maze Stencil, I also used ink blending and white paint splatters, finished off with a word die-cut. I love how you can create such a bright card so easily without stamping.

Of course, I wanted to incorporate some stamping into my card so I added flowers from Dearest Friend.

One of my favorite ways to use a stencil is add a subtle background. I blend in a color or two for the background, and to make the darker shades “subtle,” I add a sheet of vellum. I arranged the floral clusters in two different ways and finish it off with sentiments.

I hope you felt inspired today! The next stop on the hop is the ever-so-creative Olga Moss!

I love the monochromatic colors you chose when using the City Scene stencil. I also like the way you used the vellum in the last 2 cards to make the backgrounds a little more subtle. I liked the way the flowers from Dearest Friend just popped when put on those subtle backgrounds. Thanks for sharing your work!
