Watercolored Christmas Scene for MFT & Friends | Guest Designer

Hello, friends! I’m excited to be part of the MFT & Friends feature for the October 2018 release. I created a watercolor holiday scene using BB Secret Santa.

I created a watercolor scene using BB Secret Santa.

I started by stamping all the images with black waterproof ink and watercoloring them with my Daniel Smith Extra Fine Watercolors. I die-cut them using the coordinating die.

I don’t create many interactive cards, but I had an idea for including a window, which showed the night sky. I thought this would “complete” my scene somehow. 🙂

I ink-blended some Squeezed Lemonade Distress Oxide on the front of my card base. Then, I used the Die-namics Classic Window on the top right. I mounted the front part of the window and curtains (which were ink-blended with Fired Brick Distress Oxide) over the die-cut part. Then I arranged the rest of the images with foam tape for dimension.

I ink-blended a panel using Black Soot and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide and adding white and gold paint splatters. I glued the panel inside my folded cardbase. I stamped two sets of sentiments on black cardstock with clear embossing ink and heat embossing in white. I trimmed them down and added one to the front of my panel and one inside.

Rubeena, congratulations for being a guest designer with MFT. At first glance, I didn’t realize that the scene had been watercolored. Nice job with that. Love how the sky appears through the window. Then, how surprised I was with the inside being all sky and stars. It looks great. How funny it would be to have a tiny silhouette of Santa/sleigh/reindeer flying through the sky as though Santa just left the little boy’s house. (But that it wouldn’t show through the window.)

Great job, and don’t forget… we are friends.
